Here Are 5 Worst Steakhouse Chains in America

Sizzler

Nostalgia is a very funny thing. As a kid, a night at Sizzler felt just like fine dining at a fancy restaurant. These days, it’s more of a last resort. At its peak, the family steakhouse chain owned more than 600 locations.

Nowadays, it is down to about 70, mostly residing in California, and better known for its salad bar and cheese toast than anything that actually comes off the grill. For a place with a “steakhouse” in its name, the menu doesn’t actually go all out, since there are only three cuts available, and that is ribeye, New York strip, and tri-tip sirloin.

Sizzler is mine and my husbands favorite restaurant but unfortunately they have closed
in our area. The food is always good and the service is very nice too. The restaurant was always clean and we enjoyed it very much. We miss it.

We had Sizzler in San Bernardino County too. It was soooo good. I can’t even think of another steakhouse that we went to except for Pinnacle Peak. They just had steak and beans and bread.

Of the aforementioned restaurants, only Outback and Sizzler’s are the ones I’ve heard of, and I think Sizzler’s may have been, during my Navy days, during the last century. I live in the northern panhandle of WV, about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh. None of the other named restaurants are around here, and the last few named seems to be praised more than criticized as a steakhouse.

One of my cousin’s worked for the State of California in their Agriculture where they tested food products at various restaurants. He “used” to eat at fast food & cheaper steak houses like “Sizzler” and “Golden Corral” BUT when he discovered how diseased & ridden with bacteria, HE COMPLETELY STOPPED AT EATING AT THOSE TYPES OF CHEAPER “restaurants”.

You can’t beat the ambience along with the great prices and delicious food

Loved sizzlers when it was back in the day in New Jersey. Gone with most of the salad bars in this state. We do Texas Roadhouse these days or Longhorne for ribs.

I have tried Logans steaks numerous times over a period of a year, it is always tasteless and tough. I do not go there any more.

My family and I went into Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Tampa. Everything was great except the steaks, which had hardly any taste. They have competition too, with Burns, and others. As they say down there , “Oh Well.”

Outback Steakhouse is one of the best steakhouses I have ever been to! Their blooming onion (which of course isn’t a steak) is one of the best things on the menu. They cook their steaks to how you want and they taste great! Not VERY expensive, but it can be very pricey.

Never heard of the “best” steak houses. I don’t believe we have of those in my state.
Haven’t seen a Sizzler in decades…not sure why they are even on the list.
I will stay stand by my favorite steak place and that is Outback steakhouse! NOMNOM.

Same here. All of the “Best” steakhouses are only in a certain state from what I can tell. So unless you live in or close to Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, etc. it wouldn’t make much sense to go to them, especially with gas prices the way they are now.

Odd, we always got decent food at Outback. Recently the wife and I went to Sizzlers. Both of us got shrimp and steak deal. The shrimp was good the steak was tough and hard to eat, very disappointing. If we go back there we will skip the steak. The salad bar was decent.

I used to go to Outback but quit when a restraurant in Arizona tried to pass off a rieye with a cheaper cut. I called them on it and they did cook me a ribeye but iwas midlin. The waitress was also weird trying to pass on all her favorites got rejected but still leaned toward her taste like sauces ansdspices. I tjink she thought she was being upscale. Went to one again back in michigan thinking it may have been a reginal thing Same thing really , never been back since Luckys is a great steak place. One in montrose on the way to Frankenmuth. Too many steak placesto accept bad service and and high priced not choice or prime meat..for their prices it should be aged steaks but are not that even.

Eddie V’s on Boy Scout Blvd is consistently good no matter what you order and service is impeccable. It’s pricey, however you get what you pay for. We use it for special occasions. Highly recommend it.

Logans is my “go to” steakhouse in the Mobile, Alabama area. They have some great steaks and the baby back ribs are superb as well. I do miss the peanut buckets where you can throw the shells on the floor, but they will give you a bag to go. I guess too many peanut allergies made them change that. Their rolls are top notch though. I don’t know why this was on the list of “worst” because they are the best in my area.

We used to go to Ryan’s Steakhouse in Corinth, Mississippi before it was closed down for some reason. They had the best Steak, Salad & Dessert bar around at reasonable prices. Before my best friend told me about Ryan’s I had been to Outback and Sizzler amongst other steakhouses in the area and they were either not cooked well or overpriced. Since Ryan’s is closed if anyone in in Savannah or Selmer Tennessee, Florence Alabama or any other place around northeast Mississippi the place I recommend you to go is “Country Squire” fish and steak house. Their food is good and you can feed five adults Steak and/or fish and a salad bar with drink for just over $100 which neither Outback nor Sizzler could match (back in the day at least).

I have to agree that the Buckhorn Exchange is a very good steakhouse. I’ve only eaten there a few times when I went to Physics conferences and gave talks. I really enjoyed the bison & elk steaks. However, I live on the east coast and think Texas Roadhouse is quite good. When I lived near Wichita, I ate at the Amarillo Grill and ate steak grilled over a mesquite wood fire. Excellent.
