8 Ways Dollar Stores Are Trying to Fool You

7. The Everything for $1 Mentality

Dollar stores are very good at creating the illusion of a bargain by playing with your mind. They create a psychological environment where you feel like you are getting an incredible deal just because something is priced so low. The volume of items that are labeled with prices like $1 or $1.25 makes you believe you’re making wise purchasing decisions.

However, if you do the math, you’ll realize that sometimes the deal isn’t such a great one. For example, a pack of gum might only cost $1, but is it a good value when you compare it to buying a multi-pack of gum elsewhere for a few dollars more? In reality, you are not always getting the best value for your money. Dollar stores trick you into buying more because the prices seem lower, but you could find more value elsewhere.

Sorry but I disagree with what your a saying about dollar tree.! I use many of their cleaning products they work as well most even better! Awesome is an excellent product and I’ve seen it in other big stores for twice the price. I have bought their tools, yes they might not be high quality but for the average home repair they get the job done. Now as far as raising their prices what store hasn’t! A can of soup for a $1.25 for 10 ounces is still cheaper than. 14 ounce can for $3. I buy their disposable razors and shave cream and never had an issue. Have you seen the prices of razor blades and shave cream in Walmart or online! I feel what you have said is a bunch of malarkey! Do you know what the average income is in America? Try living on that when your paying $34 for razor blades. I don’t even come close to spending that in a year!
