Target Cuts Prices on 2,000 Items: Here’s Why

We don’t know how you roll, but we are so overpaying inflation prices on everything. We’re absolutely sick of it. Luckily, Target seems to have picked up on that consumer weariness, since it just announced that it’s lowering prices on thousands of items right in time for the holiday season.

We are very aware that Target cares about sales goals and making shareholders very happy, which is exactly why any huge corporation does anything, come to think about it. This is basically a ploy to get more people in their store and spend for the holiday season, which is honestly an offer we are willing to accept.

Why not? I bet they also want to stay competitive with other stores such as Walmart and Costco. In a recent press release, Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, declared:

“We know very well that families are excited to celebrate the holidays, so Target is fully committed to helping them find joy without compromise.” Well, if that’s not top-tier sugary PR speak, I don’t know what else is. But it’s cheaper stuff, so yes, we’re in.

What items will have lower prices?

Around 2,000 Target items will have their price lowered. According to the press release, those items run the full gamut from food to toys all the way to cough medicine, so you might see a cheaper price on any kind of item you buy at Target on a regular basis. 1. LEGO Technic 2022 Ford GT Car Model Set now $95.99 (it was $119.99)
  2. Bluey Fire Truck, now $19.99 (it was $24.99)
  3. Crisco Vegetable Oil (the one at 40 fl. oz) is now $4.79 (it was $5.29(

When will these lower prices go into effect?

Prices have already dropped on many of these items, and the company is still touting this as a holiday season special, so it’s still safe to say that the new power prices could go into effect soon if they haven’t already. The discounts could continue through December.

Has Target done this before?

Target decided to lower its prices on approximately 8,000 products earlier this year, and the latest round of price cuts comes as an addition to that one. “By the end of the holiday season,” Target intends to lower the prices on over 10,000 items during the year.
